Good wines are characterized by regional and varietal characteristics.

In this app, youll find the typical characteristics of about 1,300 wines and grape varieties from 550 regions and 13 countries, as well as grape variety shares, quality ratings, and shelf life of wines from these regions.

"Wine Profiles" answers questions such as:

► What aromas are typical of an Amarone or a German Riesling?
► Grape varieties in a St-Emilion?
► How do the neighboring regions of Volnay and Pommard differ? Which one do you buy for a beginner?
► What can I expect from a Edelzwicker from Alsace?
► Am I more of a Margaux or Pauillac drinker?
► How long should I cellar Barolo or Sauternes?
► What types of sherry are there and what do they taste like?

By using the filter function, you can see, for example, in which regions a grape variety is frequently grown or an aroma often found.

If you want to know more about wine aromas and tasting terms, we recommend you download our app "Wine tasting - easy and fun" from the Store. It is available in a discounted bundle.

This app is based on the successful book "Die Weinsteckbriefe" (The Wine Profiles) by Kurt Gibel, who also published the book bestseller "Weine degustieren - leicht & spielend" (Wine Tasting – Relaxed and Easy) (2020: 20th edition).

Latest reviews of Wine Profiles app for iPhone and iPad

Nice but a little more to be desired
Nice to be able to look up general description of most of the popular wines and Im hoping they will add more in the future. I strongly suggest this apps to install wine name search function since there are just too many names starting with same alphabet. Its a simple and nice wine dictionary.
Not worth the price
The info is useful, but very limited and presented in a too simple, condensed way for a $5 app. Dont buy unless on discount, you will not find detailed guidelines on grape varieties (what I was looking for).
Useful general Year/Region info...
It is what it says it is, and has a very good interface. Well done.
Not Enough Info
This App has started off with the right idea, but needs to be more specific on details about each particular wine such as vintage tasting notes and what it scored on a scale of 100. It basically just mentions the tasting notes for the grapes used in each wine but for the entire region. I want to know for example how a 2001 Barolo matches up to a 2001 Pio Cesare Barolo. $5 is a lot for this App.
100% waste
There is absolutely nothing on this app that you cant find just as quickly with a quick search via internet. Dont waste your time, let alone money.
